House and Senate Democrats to hold joint press conference

The House and Senate Democratic caucuses will hold a joint press conference in the Old Supreme Court chamber inside the Capitol at 1:00 PM Wednesday, August 10.

Democratic lawmakers plan to highlight their priorities for this week’s special session, including raising teacher salaries, raising salaries for school staff, and adding exceptions to our state’s near total ban on safe, legal access to abortion care.

On his call for the Third Extraordinary Session of the 93rd General Assembly, Governor Asa Hutchinson only included only a tax cut that overwhelmingly favors our state’s top earners and a $50 million school-safety grant program.

At today’s press conference, Democratic lawmakers will say that, had they had say over this week’s agenda, they would have put the urgent needs of everyday Arkansans first.
