Governor issues call for special session

Late Friday afternoon, Governor Asa Hutchinson formally issued the call for the Third Extraordinary Session of the 93rd General Assembly.

The special session is set to begin at 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 9. Among the issues the governor included in his call are a $450 million revenue cut that does almost nothing to benefit everyday Arkansans, as well as a $50 million measure to address school safety.

Despite the governor himself supporting a pay raise for teachers and support among both Democratic and Republican lawmakers, he did not include raising teacher salaries on the call. The governor has said too few Republican lawmakers support raising teacher salaries at this time.
