Senate advances tax cut, school-safety measure
The Arkansas Senate today gave approval to SB1, a tax-cut measure that overwhelmingly favors our state’s top earners and provides only minimal, temporary relief to low- and middle-income Arkansans.
Senate Minority Leader Keith Ingram (D-West Memphis), Senator Joyce Elliott (D-Little Rock), Senator Clarke Tucker (D-Little Rock), and Senator Linda Chesterfield (D-Little Rock) spoke against the bill.
SB2, a measure to set aside $50 million for a school-safety grant program, also advanced.
This week’s special session is expected to come to a close early Thursday.
