2023 Regular Session set to begin Monday

At noon on Monday, January 9, the 94th Arkansas General Assembly will convene, marking the start of the 2023 Regular Session.

With 13 new members, the Senate has its largest first-term class since 2003. Of these 13 new members, six are coming from the House, and one previously served in both the House and Senate.

The Senate also has a new Senate President Pro Tempore, with Senator Bart Hester (R-Cave Springs) having been confirmed to the role in November. The body will also have a new presiding officer, with Attorney General Leslie Rutledge set to be sworn in as the new lieutenant governor, the first woman to hold the position in Arkansas.

Regular sessions must run for a minimum of 60 days.
